学前班篇：1.什么是外汇？（babypips翻译）

  先介绍下babypips，简单来说是国外的一个外汇交易学习网站，里面有咨询、教程、论坛等内容。
  国内外汇入门缺少系统化的教程，恰巧我看到了babypips上的内容，所以着手翻译下。
  因为本人能力有限，自己也在边翻译边学习，所以错误不可避免。感谢大家的斧正。

What is forex?
什么是外汇交易市场？
Quite simply, it’s the global market that allows the exchange of one currency for another.
简单说来，外汇交易市场是一个允许货币间兑换的全球性市场。
If you’ve ever traveled to another country, you usually had to find a currency exchange booth at the airport, and then exchange the money you have in your wallet into the currency of the country you are visiting.
如果你要出国旅游，你通常要在机场找一个货币兑换点来把你口袋里点钱换成你要去的国家的货币。

You go up to the counter and notice a screen displaying different exchange rates for different currencies.
你走到柜台前，看见屏幕上显示着不同货币的交换比例。
You find “Japanese yen” and think to yourself, “WOW! My one dollar is worth 100 yen?! And I have ten dollars! I’m going to be rich!!!”
你找到了日元，然后暗自想着，“哇！我一美元值100日元？我现在有十美元！我要发了！！！”
When you do this, you’ve essentially participated in the forex market! You’ve exchanged one currency for another.
当你这么做时，你本质上就参与了外汇市场！你已经把一种货币兑换成了另一种货币。
Or in forex trading terms, assuming you’re an American visiting Japan, you’ve sold dollars and bought yen.
或者从外汇交易的角度来说，假设你是个去日本旅游的美国人，你在旅游期间会卖出美元买入日元。
Before you fly back home, you stop by the currency exchange booth to exchange the yen that you miraculously have left over (Tokyo is expensive!) and notice the exchange rates have changed.

It’s these changes in the exchange rates that allow you to make money in the foreign exchange market.

The foreign exchange market, which is usually known as “forex” or “FX,” is the largest financial market in the world.
外汇交易市场，通常被人熟知为“forex”或者是“FX”（外汇平台常见字样），同时也是这个世界上最大的金融市场。
Compared to the “measly” $22.4 billion per day volume of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), the foreign exchange market looks absolutely ginormous with its $5 TRILLION a day trade volume.
与纽交所平均每天224亿美元“微不足道”的交易量相比，外汇交易市场每天5兆亿的交易量是个彻头彻尾的大家伙。
That’s trillion with a “t”.

Looks intimidating. Some may even find it sexy.
看起来有点吓人。还有些人可能会觉得有点性感（？）。
You hear about the NYSE in the news every day… on CNBC… on Bloomberg…on BBC… heck, you even probably hear about it at your local gym. “The NYSE is up today, blah, blah”.
你在新闻上天天听说纽交所……在CNBC（美国全国广播公司财经频道）上……在彭博上……在BBC上……你甚至可能会在你当地的健身馆里听到，“纽交所今天涨了，等等等等”。
When people talk about the “market”, they usually mean the stock market. So the NYSE sounds big, it’s loud and likes to make a lot of noise.
当人们讨论市场时，他们通常指股票市场。所以纽交所听起来不小，规模大声量大。
But if you actually compare it to the forex market, it would look like this…

这么惨吗？完全没察觉出来。不过开篇严格来说，有定义的只有外汇市场是什么那一句，后面的基本都是举例子。

The currency market is over 200 times BIGGER! It is HUGE! But hold your horses, there’s a catch!
货币市场比股票市场大两百多倍！但是先等等，这里边有一个陷阱！
That huge $5 trillion number covers the entire global foreign exchange market, BUT daily trading volume from retail traders (that’s us) make up between 5-6% of overall volume, or between $300-400 billion. 
这个庞大的5万亿美元的数额包括了全球的外汇交易市场，但是来自零售商的日均交易量（我们贡献的）只占总量的5%-6%，在3000亿到4000亿美元间。
So you see, the forex market is definitely huge, but not as huge as the others would like you to believe. We don’t like to exaggerate. We just keepin’ it real.
所以你该明白了，外汇市场确实很大，但不如他人希望你相信的那样大。我们不想夸大，只想说清事实。

把单位换成美元即可。

成交额跟活跃度正相关。没有活跃度显然就没有成交额。

Aside from its size, the market also rarely closes!
除了它的体量外，这个市场几乎不关闭！
The forex market is open 24 hours a day and 5 days a week, only closing down during the weekend. (What a bunch of slackers!)
外汇市场5*24h开放，只在周末关闭。（真是一群懒汉！）
So unlike the stock or bond markets, the forex market does NOT close at the end of each business day.
所以不像股票市场或期货市场，外汇市场在工作日末不关闭。
Instead, trading just shifts to different financial centers around the world.
相反，交易仅仅是转移到世界范围内不同的金融中心。
The day starts when traders wake up in Wellington, then moves to Sydney, Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Frankfurt, London, and finally, New York, before trading starts all over again in Wellington!
新的一天在惠灵顿的交易员刚睡醒时开始，然后转移到悉尼、新加坡、香港、东京、法兰克福、伦敦最后到达纽约。然后又从惠灵顿一次次的开始。

石油-37美元，仔细注意下报道，能估算出石油每日成交额。（负油价一次性到位，可以算一周的）

1.2 What is traded in forex?
外汇交易什么？
The simple answer is MONEY.
简单回答——钱。
Because you’re not buying anything physical, forex trading can be confusing.
由于你没有买到任何实体的东西，你可能会对外汇交易有些困惑？
Think of buying a currency as buying a share in a particular country, kinda like buying shares in a company.
你可以这样理解。买入一种货币就像买入一只特定国家的股票，也有点像买入一个公司的股票。

The price of the currency is usually a direct reflection of the market’s opinion on the current and future health of its respective economy.
货币的价格通常会直接反映出市场对于发行国的经济发展趋势和健康状况的看法。
In forex trading, when you buy, say, the Japanese yen, you are basically buying a “share” in the Japanese economy.
举个例子，在外汇交易中当你买入日元时，你实际上是买入了与日本经济挂钩的一只“股票”。
